Does Baking Soda Kill Fleas on Mattress?

It can but it may take 2 or 3 days before the fleas are killed off. Baking soda is not the fastest anti-flea method, but it is thorough. All you have to do is sprinkle the baking soda on your mattress or bedding and wait.
But before you do that, you need to make sure the baking soda is still active. If it isn’t, then it won’t do anything to those fleas except give them more places to hide. To test this product, you will need to put a little bit into a small bowl.
Then add a few drops of vinegar to the bowl. If the mixture starts to bubble then you know the baking soda is still active and ready to go to work. Then just spread the baking soda over your bedding, mattress, and box spring.
Most people will add a lot of salt to the baking soda to make sure those fleas are killed. But you can use it separately if you want. After you have sprinkled a good portion of this product on your bedding, you wait a couple of days.
It takes up to 24 hours for the baking soda to work. Once that time frame is over, you just need to vacuum and those fleas, and their eggs, are gone.
How Do You Get Rid of Fleas on Pillows?

You can use the same method on your pillows if you want but this method may only get those fleas close to the surface and some of their eggs. Once you sprinkle the baking soda, you do have to wait at least overnight before the fleas are killed.
Then you can wash the pillows and pillowcases or vacuum them, then wash the pillows and so on. Washing in the washing machine is probably the fastest and easiest method you can use. Fleas have so many places they can run to when you use other methods.
Using your washing machine helps get rid of all fleas at all stages of their life. Plus, it disposes of them for you, so you have no mess to clean up. You can mix the baking soda with diatomaceous earth or salt to make sure all the fleas and their eggs are killed.
Steam cleaning will work for your pillows and your bedding. If you do not own a steam cleaner, then you would have to rent one. Make sure to make full use of this appliance and steam clean your furniture and carpets at the same time.
The hot temperature of the steam will kill those fleas, etc., and make your pillows nice and clean.
