Face it, we do not always have the time to give Fido a bath and he’s not always in the mood to be dunked in a bathtub of water, is he? So, what can you do to make that he does not stink up the place and not get the whole bathroom soaking wet? DIY Puppy Dry Shampoo, that’s what. Here is a very simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 6 drops of skin safe vanilla fragrance oil 
  • Shaker
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Take the ingredients and put them in the shaker.
  2. Shake over dog.
  3. Massage the powder into the dog’s coat. 

This recipes should help your dog to smell better and most importantly, is safe and cost very little. If you do decide to add an essential oil to the mix to give your dog a good smell, but please remember never to touch your dog with those oils directly. They must be mixed and diluted. Also, please be careful not put any mixtures in your pup’s eyes.

Using Essential Oils on Dogs

Just like with humans, there are essential oils you should and should not use on the skin of dogs. Luckily, Lavender is one of the oils that is considered safe, and is said to promote relaxation.

Some oils just should not be used on dogs as they can be toxic for animals. These three oils are very common, yet should never be used on your dog.

  • Garlic oil
  • Clove oil
  • Tea Tree Oil
