Use as much liver as you want in this recipe. But keep it real and do not go overboard.

Ingredients

  • Liver
  • Liver

Instructions

  • Once you have selected the amount of liver you will use, fill a pot full of enough water to cook that liver choice.
  • Bring the pot of water to a boil and once it starts boiling reduce the heat to simmer. Now add the liver pieces you have chosen and cook for a minimum of 20 minutes. You want to make sure the liver is cooked all the way through so it may take more than 20 minutes to cook.
  • Once the liver is cooked thoroughly, drain the water and let the meat cool. While this is taking place, you can cut up some carrots, potatoes, green vegetables, or whatever ingredient you know is safe for your dog and they will eat.
  • After the liver has cooled, add the meat to a blender and use the pulse option to turn the meat into a paste. Now add those extra ingredients you want your dog to eat but remember not to use onions or garlic. Those two vegetables are bad for your pet.
  • Once all the ingredients are turned into a pate, remove the food from the blender and place it in a safe container. Then place3 the container in the fridge to be used at your leisure.

    • Step 2: Once that is done add the rest of the ingredients and mix thoroughly.
    • Step 3: Using a cooking scoop, dip the scoop into your blender and make small liver pate balls. Place the balls on a prepared non-stick cookie sheet.
    • Step 4: Once the cookie sheet is full, place it in your preheated oven, at 340 degrees F and bake for 25 minutes.
    • Step 5: After baking, remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack till cool. Store in an airtight container.

    Notes

*You can add more of the ingredients if you have many dogs to feed or make several batches using the amounts listed above.

*One word of caution, the inside of these liver balls remain soft which gives mold and mildew an opportunity to grow on these treats. Keep the liver in your fridge for about a week or freeze some portions for up to two months. Make sure to date those containers so you know for sure.
