The height of a teacup poodle is about 6-8 inches and it can weigh around 2-4 pounds. If we compare teacup poodles with other small poodles, there is a marked difference in size.  The height of a toy poodle is about 9-10 inches and it weighs in the range of 6-9 pounds. Similarly, a miniature poodle is about 11-15 inches high and has a weight of 15-17 pounds.

Lifespan

The lifespan of a teacup poodle is 10-14 years. Just like size, the expected life of other small poodles also varies slightly. The lifespan of a toy poodle is around 11-15 years while miniature poodles usually live for about 12-15 years.

Appearance

These tiny pups have a curled and thick coat that sheds very little. This means that it is a hypoallergenic dog and perfect for those with allergies. Teacup poodles come in a variety of colors, including white, grey, black, red, and apricot. They only come in solid colors.

Temperament

The temperament of a teacup poodle is quite similar to that of standard poodles. It is a loving pup who can be a great companion to individuals, families, and the elderly. Due to their small size, they can fit in any environment and will do well in apartments. Similarly, they can adapt to city living and will be comfortable in large homes or open-spaced environments.

However, leaving them alone for long spells can result in anxiety and destructive behavior.

Health Issues

Teacup poodles are prone to some health problems because they share the same genetics as standard poodles. Some of the ailments that are common among this breed are as follows.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy – In this eye disorder, the photoreceptors of the eye are affected. This condition can eventually cause permanent blindness.

Dysplasia – Although this problem is normally seen in large dogs, some teacup poodles may also suffer from it.

Patellar Luxation – This is a common condition in smaller dogs and happens when the patella is not properly aligned. It can cause lameness in the dog or result in an abnormal gait, like a skip or a hop.
